Jim Duff Music Blog

Growing up in Kentucky, Jim Duff counted the legends of traditional Country music as his heroes. Artists like Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Townes Van Zandt made a huge impact on the young songwriter and helped shape his sound. However, music was not his only talent and life took him in another direction for a while.

Sugar Daddy Blues

I had someone ask me if this song was country music. My answer was that it contains some country elements. However, my love for all types of music comes out in the music I create. I did incorporate the finger style picking in which you would hear in country or folk music. But the chords I chose are straight jazz chords. And both the solo and bridge are major scales mixed with the influence of the great Wes Montgomery. You should check out Wes if you have the time.
Please feel free to share this tune with all your family and friends.
And don't forget to tell someone that you love, that you love them. Don't put it off another second. Love to all.
