Jim Duff Music Blog

Growing up in Kentucky, Jim Duff counted the legends of traditional Country music as his heroes. Artists like Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Townes Van Zandt made a huge impact on the young songwriter and helped shape his sound. However, music was not his only talent and life took him in another direction for a while.

I WENT OLD SCHOOL

Good morning my friends. I had to go old school country on this tune. This kinda of reminds me of Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers. I wrote this tune while living in Nashville back in 2004. I gotta thank John Heinrich again for playing the steel guitar on this recording. John plays steel for Ronnie Milsap but manages to always make himself available to play on my records. I'm grateful for that because he always adds the right dynamic to my songs in the traditional country genre.
I recorded this in my home studio in 2009 in Danville Kentucky. Please share this tune with all your friends that dig on old school country.
Love to all
