Jim Duff Music Blog

Growing up in Kentucky, Jim Duff counted the legends of traditional Country music as his heroes. Artists like Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Townes Van Zandt made a huge impact on the young songwriter and helped shape his sound. He dreamt of a life performing. However, music was not his only talent and life took him in another direction for a while.

Hometown Wireless

This is the end of my best effort to educate folks on the current advancements in technology. Folks that talk out of school about technical issues need to get their facts straight before questioning all the opportunities before them. However most of the residents I've talked with, throughout the county, seem to understand the advancements in broadband technology better than the, so-called "old guard." The residents of Lincoln County have figured out that this world is much much bigger then what the oppositionenvisions it to be. Should leadership even question the value of allowing the same opportunities for their community that other communities throughout nation have. For instance: In larger metropolitan areas, carriers like Verizon, AT&T and Sprint are already providing 50/20 MB wireless broadband speeds for those communities. Sprint just launched the first 4G network in the US.

We understand that Lincoln County is not a large metropolitan area, but the folks that live in Lincoln County deserve the same "Quality of Service" that folks that live elsewhere receive. If Hometown wants it's customersto be able to enjoy live video streaming along with our quality content over the internet, then Hometown must have the bandwidth it takes to do so. In the end, it really is all about bandwidth and bandwidth cost.So to those council members that say "Duff may be overstating his capabilities" I have provided below a "Certificate of Appreciation" from Sprint for providing quality assurance services for their network build out in Puerto Rico. We built over 115 sites and Sprint thought that I was totally capably.

With this said, its time to quit talking and start producing. The folks that know me will tell you that I don’t mind a little competition and I am certainly not a stranger to a challenge. Hometown Wireless will continue its quest to provide 'every' resident in Lincoln County with true wireless broadband service. Hometown will launch it's network covering Stanford in mid-November and fill in the restof the county in accordance with our build-out plan. If interested, you can find it on our website http://www.hometownwireless.biz/. If you're interested in getting wireless broadband service, please take time to submit the "Indication of Interest." Thank you,
