Another option that is incredibly popular these days is to learn guitar online; I mean that when the internet started to grow in the nineties for almost everybody, it was a great chance for all the people out there who wanted to start a business, and musicians were not left behind; it was only a matter of time before the world wide web got filled with a huge amount of pages about learning how to play guitar.
So, starting to play guitar online has evolved up to the point that anyone with an internet connection can start learning from home, and everyday more and more people sign up to these online guitar courses. Now, I did not learn to play guitar online, because when my parents bought me a guitar, I did not even have a computer, so I began to learn guitar the old school way: alone.
It was not easy sometimes because, as I said, I started alone with no teacher, I just got a couple of lessons from a friend of mine, I got to learn how to play a a few of popular songs and after that I went on my own. A few years after that I decided to start taking it seriously because I noticed that I was not learning anything new and I used to look up many great guitar players, and I really wanted to be like those guys.
Convincing my parents to get classes was not easy at all, since they had this really wrong idea that to play guitar is a waste of time, but I proved them wrong after I began making some money out of it. What I want to share with you is that back then I wish I had the opportunity of signing up to learn guitar online, you have so different options a few clicks away and good methods to start learning, improving or becoming an expert on the guitar.
Since you are basically teaching yourself how to play guitar online, you do need to consider that you need to motivate yourself to avoid getting disappointed. The truth is that, when you are learning with guitar lessons online, you choose when and where you practice, so, what I can tell you is to buy a guitar, a good guitar, and make enough time to practice, an hour a day at least.
I like to say that today the benefit of learning guitar from home is an opportunity that many of us guitarists out there did not have, but I did have the opportunity to start learning different things online; if it isn’t among your plans, you should too think about learning blues and jazz with time, you will be a more complete musician and you will have a more educated hearing.
Learning to play guitar is a never ending process, it is a journey, a road that will only end when you decide to stop learning, the greatness of the guitar is that you can always learn or create something new, I wish you the best of luck my friend and a nice day.
